WebP Shrinker
Reduce a JPG, PNG or WebP to a smaller WebP directly in your browser. Files are not uploaded.
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP. It is re-encoded as WebP in your browser and the result is ready to download.
Example
A 480 KB JPG screenshots usually re-encodes to a noticeably smaller WebP with quality around 82. WebP gives smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar visible quality for photos.
Limitations
This is a straightforward re-encode to WebP, not an AI upscaler or advanced editor. It will not add detail that is missing from the source.
Privacy
Everything runs locally in your browser. Your image is not uploaded or stored.
FAQ
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is processed locally in your browser using canvas and never leaves your device.
What if my image is already small?
WebP often still saves a little, but the gain is usually biggest for larger JPG and PNG files.
Can I pick the quality?
Not yet on this page. It uses a sensible default quality for web use. The existing image tools at /image-tools/ offer more control.
