Is 1920 the right cap for hero images?
It matches the widest common layout and keeps download weight sane. Beyond that a widths set (via Resize breakpoints) is usually better than one huge file.
Why cap at all?
Un-cropped originals are often 4000px+. Capping stops wasted megabytes on screens that will never use them.
