Is JPG to WebP lossless?
WebP can be lossless or lossy. For site migrations you usually want a web-quality lossy pass that looks like the JPG at a fraction of the size.
Will transparency survive?
JPG has no transparency. If your source has transparency, convert PNG to WebP instead so the alpha channel is kept.
